Sri Lanka
Upon arrival in Colombo, our tour representative will welcome and guide you to Kandy, Sri Lanka’s
second-largest city. Check into the hotel and spend some time relaxing. Later, you will explore some
of Kandy’s iconic tourist attractions.
Kandy has a fascinating history and culture. It is famous for its Buddhist temples, monasteries, spice
gardens, and nature reserves. It was also the last capital city of the erstwhile Sinhalese kingdom.
After a hearty Sinhalese breakfast buffet of hoppers, string hoppers, and pol roti, head out to explore
Kandy. You will visit Kandy Lake, also known as the Sea of Milk, named after a pond called Kiri
Muhuda (Sea of Milk) that existed before it was converted into a lake.
Later, head to the Temple of the Tooth Relic, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for housing
the Buddha’s canine tooth. Every year, the Sinhalese celebrate the 10-day Esala Prehara, or the
Festival of the Tooth, during which the relic is taken out in procession. End your tour of Kandy with
some shopping at the Kandy Market Square.
Nuwara Eliya is famously called Little England, thanks to its colonial-style buildings, quaint
bungalows, and cool climate. The place is known for its tea plantations, nature reserves, and parks.
After breakfast, head out to explore the city’s top attractions: the Ambewala Farms, the UNESCO
World Heritage-listed Horton Plains National Park, the Hakgala Botanical Garden, and the Seetha
Amman Temple. Enjoy a boat ride on Gregory Lake or a stroll in Victoria Park.
